The Johns Hopkins All Children’s LifeLine Critical Care Transport Team provides round-the-clock specialized transport care to critically ill newborns, infants, children, teens and adults.
The Johns Hopkins All Children's LifeLine Critical Care Transport Team, based in St. Petersburg, Florida, provides emergency medical services through ground and air transportation. The team performs both hospital-to-hospital transfers of patients (newborns through age 21) to and from Johns Hopkins All Children's and provides medical air transport service from medical and trauma scenes involving children and adults.
Johns Hopkins All Children’s LifeLine vehicles include:
- Three critical care ambulances specially designed to decrease noise and vibration.
- LifeLine 1, the only medical air transport helicopter based in Pinellas County.
- The availability of fixed-wing aircraft, allowing the capability of state, national and international transport.
Each vehicle is equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology to meet the needs of critically ill newborns, children and older patients. In addition to the standard equipment, the LifeLine team can provide special pediatric transport technology, including the ability to provide active cooling to help prevent brain damage, as well as nitric oxide and high frequency ventilation to help with breathing.
Patients are taken to the hospital most appropriate for their needs, whether it is Johns Hopkins All Children’s in most pediatric cases or a hospital that provides adult or other specialized care.
Our LifeLine transport team is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Team members are trained in specialty areas such as neonatal and pediatric critical care, advanced cardio-respiratory support and transport critical care.
Team members remain in contact with clinicians at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital for medical management of the patient throughout the transport.
